Joining the Squares and Triangles
Now we’re going to lay out our square and triangles in the order we’ll attach them using Color B. Make sure the right side is facing up.
Joining the Squares
Start with the square that has the extra row and put it at the bottom. You’ll tilt it so one of the points is facing down.

Take the next square to the right and attach your yarn (Color B) at the rightmost corner.
Then crochet granny clusters as normal across the top and the left side.
When you get to the left corner, make 3 double crochets in it (which make’s half of the corner) and now we’ll start attaching.

Take another square and line it up above the square you’re currently working on.
Insert your hook into the corner space of the top square and chain one.
Then make the 2nd ch (this completes the chain 2 for your corner) and do your other three double crochets into this corner to finish it.
Insert your hook into the next space of the top square, ch 1, and make the next granny dc cluster (3 dc) in the next space of the bottom granny square.
Basically, you’re just completing the granny square round as normal, but inserting your hook into the corresponding space of the other granny square before you make your chain 1 or first chain of the chain 2 in the corner.
Once you get to the other corner and get it attached, you’ll continue the round as usual and those two squares will be attached.

Repeat that process to attach the top left square.

Joining the triangles
Join the first triangle in the center at the top of the squares.
Attach the yarn to the far right corner of the triangle. Ch 3, then insert your hook into the corner space of the square and ch 1.

Make 3 dc in the same space, and continue along the triangle inserting your hook into the spaces of the square before you make the chains.
When you reach the corner, make your first 3 double crochet into the corner space, then insert your hook and make one chain into the corner space of the square straight across from the corner you’re working in (it’s the top corner of the bottom square).

Ch again and make continue as normal up the other side of the triangle.
In the last corner, make your 3 double crochets.
Then insert into the last corner of the adjacent square, ch 1 and make the last double crochet in the corner space of the triangle.

Repeat that process for the other two triangles.

When you complete the last triangle, finish off and weave in all the ends.

Border and Straps
Join Color C to the far left corner of the bandana.
Ch 1 and sc in the same space.

Make one sc in the top of each dc and each space. Also make one sc in the each corner space and in the space where two squares are attached.

When you reach the bottom point of the bandana, make 3 sc in the corner space, and then continue back up the other side making one sc in each stitch or space until you reach the right corner.

Make one sc in the top of the ch 3 of this corner, and then ch 41 times. This will make the first strap.
Sl st into the 2nd ch from your hook and each ch going down.

Sc in the same spot where you made the last sc before the strap.
Now you’re going to make 3 sc in the next 4 spaces at the end of each triangle row going across the top of the bandana.

When you get to the center of the triangle, make 2 sc in the center loop. Then continue to make 3 sc single crochets in the next 4 spaces.

When you get to the corner space of the granny square, make 3 half double crochet (hdc). This makes a longer stitch and keeps you from having an indent across the front.

Continue this across until you reach the left corner.
After you make 3 sc in the far left corner, ch 41. Sl st into the 2nd ch from hook and all the way down the ch.

Make one single crochet in the same space as the last st before you made the ch, and then sl st into the first sc of the row. Finish off.
Weave in the ends and you’re done!
